Is there any floor with Republicans when it comes to debasing themselves with regards to Trump? Ah, NO. The above title was taken from Real Clear Politics, and RCP has a partial transcript of Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russell Brand, a comedian who has gone down the right wing conspiracy theory rabbit hole. And where else can you see poor old Tucker crawling across the floor to kiss Trump’s feet? Tucker’s fall from Fox propaganda grace has hit him HARD!
It could not happen to a nicer racist, misogynistic piece of shit.
Here is the partial transcript:
TUCKER CARLSON: I love Trump, personally. I made a huge mistake last November in getting involved in American politics, something I'd never done before. Making calls, this guy's gonna win, this is going to happen in this state, meet your new governor, New York, and I was wrong on almost every call.
I'm not a very astute political analyst. I'm not interested in politics. I never have been interested in politics, I'm interested in ideas. I'm interested in people…
I think looking back on this ten years from now, assuming we're still around, I think we're going to see Trump's emergence as the most significant thing to happen in American politics in 100 years. Because he reoriented the Republican Party against the wishes of Republican leaders.
But when I think about Trump right now, in July of 2023, I'm struck by his foreign policy views. Trump is the only person with stature in the Republican Party really who is saying, "Wait a second, why are we supporting an endless war in Ukraine?"
Oh boy. There is just so much to try and unpack here. The first thing is that Tucker is DESPERATE to stay relevant. Tucker is finding out what happens when you lose a cushy gig at Fox propaganda. He is seeing two words flash before his eyes: Bill O’Reilly.
I can vaguely recall that O’Reilly was once the BIG THING on Fox. Hey! Wasn’t he the guy that Tucker Carlson replaced? Yes! O’Reilly was fired because he couldn’t stop sexually harassing the women at Fox! Fox realized that they could live without O’Reilly, so bye bye to him!
Now, O’Reilly I think has a podcast or some such thing.
Second, if I was Trump, I would remember that Tucker stated that he DESPISED TRUMP, at least in emails. And we all know that Trump has this thing about EMAILS! To him, an email is the same thing as writing something into stone. It’s why Trump avoids writing emails.
Too bad this same thought process doesn’t extend to using social media platforms or giving interviews for TV. But I digress…
And once again, Tucker is hoping that all of us have forgotten his own admission that HE LIES WHEN CORNERED! So I do not believe his knew found “love” for Trump. And I do not believe any of the other bullshit in this interview.
Except with one thing he said. “I’m not a very astute political analyst” is the most honest thing that Tucker said in this interview. And he has proven that time and time again.
Having stated that, can anyone believe his pronouncement that Trump is the MOST SIGNIFICANT thing to happen to American politics? Trump is significant in that he has tapped into the fascism that runs through right wing politics in America. But as other former Republicans have said before, American fascism and white male supremacy was always around and had settled into the Republican base voters. Trump just recognized that and brought it out of the shadows. If there had been no Trump, the fascist white male supremacy movement would have created a Trump like figure.
Finally, we have Tucker still being a Russian stooge. This is because Putin is a “hero” to American fascists. Putin is white and persecuting Russian LGBTQ people. And he is a strong man who imprisons or kills his enemies. People like Tucker LOVE this about Putin. They want to be able to kill all they hate just like Putin does.
I’m all for dumping Tucker into the “paradise” that is Putin’s Russia.
The end result of Tucker’s further debasement will be nothing. Trump will possibly toy with Tucker only to further humiliate him. But what will happen is that Trump will do nothing to help Tucker avoid the fate of becoming a nobody or has been. Tucker sees that future for himself, and I’m sure it has scared the shit of him.
Tsk, tsk, tsk.
