Well this is a thing I did not know about. One would think they would vomit before this happens.
All things in moderation. You must drink water to stay hydrated in this heat BUT do not drink a lot at one time and too fast. When you are thirsty and I have been guilty of drinking ice water or regular water too fast....It does not take but a few seconds to down a half a bottle of water to quinch the thirst. That can be dangerous.
The thing one should do is hydrate slowly throughout the day. Don’t play catch up. It is very dangerous. Maybe some of you know about this but I did not know about water toxicity. It is surprising more people are not aware of this. Eat watermelon, strawberries, and check your pee when you go to the bathroom. We need sodium which is slightly in bottled water but obviously for the woman in the video, not enough. Sucking on a peadalyte popcycle sounds pretty good as well. Celery and cucumbers are very good as well. Watermelon tops # 1 for hydration though.
I have been dehydrated before during Covid and didn’t even know it. I went because I had a UTI and they did blood work and brought in an IV to hydrate me some months ago. So, being the over reactor I can be, when the heat kicks up….especially when driving for some reason and I have AC I sometimes stop and get water and down it. I won’t be doing that anymore. I will carry a small cooler with ice and sip a small bottle and not chug it.
Our heat index has been over 112 for the past two weeks. Trust me it is HOT. With the air on, even inside reaches 79 and 80.
Here are some things I learned today and glad I did and hope to enlighten you folks who were as uninformed as I was. I was always told to slow down but no one told me why.
Many of you probably knew this and I knew about the electrolytes but I never knew one could die from drinking TOO much water…. Stay safe folks.
