On Saturday obviously Russian sympathetic hackers attacked part of Poland’s rail network.
Hackers broke into railway frequencies to disrupt traffic in the north-west of the country overnight, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) reported on Saturday.
The signals were interspersed with recording of Russia's national anthem and a speech by President Vladimir Putin, the report says.
Poland is a major transit hub for Western weapons being sent to Ukraine.
Saturday's incident occurred when hackers transmitted a signal that triggered an emergency stoppage of trains near the city of Szczecin, PAP reported.
About 20 trains were brought to a standstill, but services were restored within hours.
On Monday, the UK’s central Air Traffic computer had “technical difficulties” just after midday
More than 500 flights to and from the UK have been cancelled following a “technical issue” with air traffic control.
The National Air Traffic Services (NATS), the country’s leading provider of air traffic control services, said controllers are having to input flight plans manually due to a fault with its systems.
It apologised for the disruption caused by the failure, which is causing significant delays at UK airports. Shortly after 3.30pm, NATS said the technical issue had been “identified and remedied”.
Today is one of the busiest Mondays in the year. It is a Bank Holiday and is generally seen as the end of the peak Summer holiday season. School year starts by next week with teachers having two preparation days. Many visitors would have flown into London for the Notting Hill Carnival and people without kids would have used the long weekend to take a short break abroad from the UK.
While NATS has not explained the problem, the resort to “input flight plans manually” indicates the main computer was down. If the issue is down to a hacking attack, it seems more than a coincidence that the Polish rail system was hacked by Russians a few days before. Diverting attention from a Ukrainian success in their counter-offensive or retaliation for drone attacks on Moscow? The building hit at least twice houses the ministry responsible for cyber matters.
