I’m so excited, as a child I used to take refugee on writing due to a speech impediment , I stuttered.
Then, at age 15 I emigrated with my family undocumented to the United States and found myself not only unable to speak my native language Spanish, but also undocumented and with no knowledge of the English language. I found myself without a voice.
Fast forward to about eight years ago, by then I had almost gotten rid of my stutter, learned to speak English with a sexy latino accent and became an American citizen, then one day I found out about The moth and decided to share a story in front of an audience to get rid of my fear of public speaking.
Now, I have shared hundreds of stories and won over 70 Moth slams and have become a published author. I have found my voice!
I am honored to be part of this anthology and grateful to DePaul University for including my story.
Check my web site if you want to learn more about the book
but if you don’t have time to read or would rather not
you can always listen to some of my stories
either way you chose to enjoy my stories, thank you for your time and for lending an ear to my voice.
Sinceramente
