Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md) made some very good arguments on MTP this morning, to counter the double-talking nonsense being spewed by Trump’s latest excuse of a lawyer. We’d be smart to take Raskin’s replies and run with them.
“[Trump] conspired to defraud the American people out of our right to an honest election by substituting the real legal process we have under federal and state law with counterfeit electors,” Raskin said. “There are people in jail for several years for counterfeiting one vote, if they try to vote illegally once, he tried to steal the entire election.
“That is a deranged argument,” Raskin said of Lauro’s comments [Trump’s Lawyer].
[...]
“First of all, a technical violation of the Constitution is a violation of the Constitution. The Constitution in six different places opposes insurrection,” Raskin said.

Stop and let that sink in. If 1 counterfeit vote equals a jail sentence — how much more so, should a scheme to counterfeit Electors, in 7 different states.
Remember each Electoral College Elector basically represent ALL the Voters in a District. Or hundreds of thousands of Votes.
Trump and his co-conspirators plotted to NULLIFY all those Votes, and substitute their hand-picked Fake Electors instead.
This “free speech scheme” is what Lauro called a “technical violation of the Constitution” — which he later tried to walk-back:
If former President Donald Trump committed a “technical violation of the Constitution,” it doesn’t mean he necessarily broke any criminal laws, John Lauro, Trump’s criminal defense attorney, argued on NBC’s “Meet the Press."
[...]
In a follow-up email to NBC News, Lauro said he "never said that President Trump committed a technical violation."

It was this faulty rationale among others, that Rep. Raskin soundly corrected. I hope you take time to watch his response, or read the cited article. Because these “technical violations of the Constitution” are indeed REAL violations of the Constitution.
Attempts at Disenfranchisement through fraud and attempted Insurrection are frowned on by our Constitution. They are the epitome enemies of “free speech.”
The Raskin clip is spotlighted in the referenced article. The entire MTP show can be watched here.
A free and fair Democracy matters.
