Welcome to another fuzzy cup of coffee. Ah, brings me back to my college days, fuzzy coffee …
This week I'm kicking off my weekly open thread with another slideshow from my summer vacation.
Landek Park
Near Ostrava, in the Czech Republic, lies Landek Park, home of the Anselm Coal Mine.
We went on a tour of the museum which presents the history of mining rescue equipment and the people who used it.
After touring the above ground portion of the museum, we went down the mining elevator about 30 feet to the upper level of the Anselm Coal Mine itself.
On display were manikins posed as if they were performing various mining techniques used over the centuries that coal was mined in this area. Also on display were the tools and machines used in the actual mining. Some of the conveyors and digging machines were actually turned on for us visitors— giving us a hint of the level of noise miners dealt with.
Thanks for stopping by!
This is an open thread, all topics are welcome.
