So, there is this woman, Greta Christina, who is a journalist or blogger, or something. Anyway, she likes to write opinion pieces. It seems she writes a lot about atheism, and theism. She is an atheist. I found her most recent article on RawStory, at www.rawstory.com/… . Her article is “Why I don't believe in God”, an excerpt from her book “Why Are You Atheists So Angry? 99 Things That Piss Off the Godless”. I found that I like this woman. I like her writing. I find that I agree with her. It appears that I might agree with her 100% of the time, particularly regarding atheism, and maybe the scientific method. So, anyway, I posted a recent article refering to her, and it got a reaction, one interesting one in particular. It did titillate me a little. … So, anyway … I found this other article by her, and I liked it so much, I decided to write a little blurb about it here, in one of my DK Blog Entries. A bit of fun for me. And, it was delightful reading.
Update: I did not publish it to get into flame wars with agnostics, religious people, or atheists who support/defend religious people. I used to administer a blog for atheism/religion discussions in the early 2000s. I am not interested in doing that. I am, also, not interested in the debates anymore. For me, it is a waste of time. I found this woman at Alternet, orginally, I think. I, now, saw her also publish at Rawstory. I like her. I like the way she argues. I like the way she writes. So, I feel impelled to share her work with people. If you don’t like it, or are not interested, don’t read on.
Update: There is a purity test group here, and they engage in group think (they certainly like to pile on without thinking for themselves). While the Democratic Party as a whole may be inclusive, there are some people that have strong beliefs that certain things belong only to them. The group think is nothing different than that of the Republican Party.
Update: I would like to see one person pick a point that Greta Christina made and address it. I see a lot of vague comments — and typical apologetics. Seen it all, as she also states in her article. Show me something new, but don’t expect that I will instantly convert to your religion because of it. Be careful, however, because, as she stated, you might think you have something unique when you don’t. Everyone argues what they want to argue. Everyone turns something into a thing of their own. Always their own little segue or digression, or just flipping the tables to suit them. Address some tangible point or issue, and don’t make it about you. Try making an argument in the abstract, while not getting butt-hurt about it. I also see a lot of the usual parsing, word-bothering, nattering, and holier-than-thou nonsense. Get over it. Discuss a specific issue, preferably something I presented or Greta Christina presented, as it is my little blog about her article. Not your fun-page.
If some of you attacked Republicans the way you attack your own, you might accomplish something politically in your life (which seems to be the goal of this site). I won’t hold my breath. Some of you really waste your time, and others, with nonsense, while women and minorities are being oppressed, while it is open season on blacks, and sometimes the mentally disabled, while the environment of the entire world is being destroyed, while children are being gunned down by yet another mass murderer. Maybe, those of you with so much time on your hands could find better things to do than nitpick at people you are supposed to be allies with, such as protesting the corporations and their causing anthropogenic global climate change. Some of you have really messed up priorities. But, like I stated earlier — I won’t hold my breath.
