Welcome to Street Prophets Coffee Hour, the place where politics meets up with religion, nature, art, science, and life. Come in, have a cuppa and a cookie (or three!) and join us.
Yes, I’m that odd person who genuinely enjoys other people’s vacation pictures. I never was able to travel much (mostly money, ya know), but the world fascinates me. I enjoy seeing new places, even if it’s vicariously. It’s the only way I get to experience so much of the world.
Our own Marko the Werelynx often gives us glimpses of his corner of Europe on Friday afternoons in his own Coffee Hour diaries. Landek Park. Or Nature Reserve Rákosina. Sometimes it’s sunny. Sometimes there’s rain. All outings are special, and more so if you’re homebound. Check out his list of diaries for photos of beautiful architecture and lovely landscapes.
I recently exchanged emails with someone I’d worked with for nearly two decades before I retired in 2010. He kindly told me all the places he and his husband had visited around the world—but alas, not a picture of any of it. Sigh.
My pictures are all local to me, and I’m hoping to get out this afternoon to see how far I can walk, and what I can find to take pictures of.
But here are a couple of day trips for you from my friend Jenny in Scotland. She hurries through the video intending to get a day’s worth into a reasonable time, around 30 minutes each, with the idea that you can pause to read anything as you watch. Since I’m almost always watching live-stream, I have to make a second visit back to the video for that, but the old buildings she explores, and the wild Scottish lands, make it a treat no matter how many times I rewatch. The music is by Paul Burns, Scottish fiddler and another friend. It adds so much to the video.
And have a great afternoon. This is an open thread. All topics are welcome.
