I wasn’t going to write a Ghana update this week but here we are.
For those who have not been following, John is my friend in Ghana. He is an ordained minister. Instead of preaching at people he works to help the most desperate and needy who come to him in dire circumstances. There are people alive in Ghana today who would be dead if not for John, which is not a bad thing to say about someone.
Over the weekend John’s homeless brother Joshua was out scrounging in the dumps for scrap to sell. He stepped on a nail and tore up his foot pretty badly. And everyone there is always well aware of the dangers of tetanus.
Joshua spent two days in the hospital. We finally managed to get him taken care of and he got two shots so hopefully he will be okay. He can walk again and has been released. Of course he has been released to be out on the streets again with no place to stay but at least he can walk.
Unfortunately, and ironically, while he was at the hospital caring for his brother John began passing blood again. Apparently this has been going on for some time but John hadn’t told me. But it became so bad that he almost passed out and now is lying in a hospital bed.
And yes, he did send pictures of himself standing naked, standing in a puddle of his own blood and covered with it. If anyone doubts.
I am not sure just what the medical situation is. John’s English is not good and what the doctors tell him is not necessarily what they are thinking anyway. Though if he is dying I would think they would tell him and just send him home. That is what they did when John’s sister-in-law was dying of cancer.
So I dunno.
And of course money is an issue, as always.
I don’t want to say more. We are working on it.
