Admin correction: the original title of this story, "Matt Gaetz threatens Bloodshed & Violence if Trump is Thrown in Prison," was edited to reflect the actual content of Gaetz' remarks on the Driveway Liberty Podcast (September 6, 2023). This story has been edited to remove a misleading Tweet from Occupy Democrats which has been replaced with the transcript of Gaetz' remarks.
"I really worry that that type of action could lead to violence. And I am so wildly opposed to violence. I don't think it's how we should resolve our disputes. But when you start telling people that they can't express their participation in this American experience through a vote, then they start looking for other ways, and they're not, the vote is the best way to do it. The other ways are not so good. And I worry if they start to take the vote away, you could see bloodshed in this country like none of us want."
Matt Gaetz, Driveway Liberty Podcast (September 6, 2023)
Well, now it’s without question. In less than a month since I started running, Matt Gaetz has suggested the possibility of further violence TWICE. He’s completely disregarding the innocent bystanders, and the families that will be irrevocably shattered by outbreaks of politically motivated violence.
It’s incredible to me that a person can claim to represent the thousands of voters in the Panhandle, and than turn around and say things like this. MOST voters in this district- republican or democrat, aren’t nearly as extreme as he is. I have more in common with the average republican in my district than he does.
I’m tired of his privileged, hate-mongering name hitting the headlines twice a week, every week. If we don’t stop him this cycle, he’s going to run for governor of FL in a few years. Then the nightmare would truly never end.
As the only Democrat running against Matt Gaetz, I’m working hard every day to set myself up for a competitive race against him. From my Moms Demand Action days, he already knows who I am- it’s just time for him to be scared of what people power will do to him.
This weekend I’m at the Ruth’s List “She’s The Change” annual conference, meeting with hundreds of other women across FL, many of whom are running for office, or already hold elected office.
If you are like me- and you just want to see Matt Gaetz gone, I ask two things of you:
One: follow me on social media @gayforcongress.
Two: Pitch in- and if you already have, please text my link to a few friends so they can see my story, and why I’m the candidate who’s going to beat him.

Thank you as always,
