Ha!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at, to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off Daily Kos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on Daily Kos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
This is our current schedule of regular IAN diary writers:

Okay!
Here is my most recent YouTube video:
This is an important step for me.
I am not so very afraid of Wichita city tap water, but I do not like the taste of it.
I like the taste of purified water.
And, as a prepper, I feel that I need to keep about a one month or more supply of water on hand.
And, to be on the safe side, for food and for water, I feel I should rotate through all my food and water, never letting any of it just sit there for ten years or more, until it goes bad, or until I die, and my family is then forced to work long and hard to throw out vast amounts of food and water.
That is why I like to drink my prepper stash of water, and keep buying new water, month after month.
This latest step is switching from just buying endless plastic bottles of bottled water, and filling up the landfills with those plastic bottles, to getting my sister-in-law to give me a ride to the supermarket, where I can fill my glass jars. We will see how often. Every two weeks maybe.
Here is an example of a prepper stash that others were forced to deal with:
Do not feel obligated to watch that whole video.
I mean, if you have time for it, it’s very entertaining, at least it is to me.
I mainly want to point out those white plastic five-gallon buckets with blue lids.
If I understand correctly, they are each full of food.
I have seen prepper food stashes like that before.
www.walmart.com/…
2-Week Emergency Food Supply Kit - 25-Year Shelf Life - 118 Servings - By Ready Hour
If you click on that Walmart link, you will see a five-gallon bucket.
The title of that video above, and the buckets of prepper food I have seen, that is what leads me to think all that.
So, presuming I am correct, you can see in that video that a crew of three or more hard working people had to put in a lot of time and effort, just to clean the trash and clutter from the whole house, and from around those buckets.
Those who bought the buckets of food in the first place, most likely will leave all that behind when they die.
I do not want to leave so much food, and certainly not so much water, behind, when I die.
So, I need to rotate my food and water stash, always.
Speaking of prepper topics, what are you using to wipe your behind?
I am an old man on a fixed income, and a penny saved really is a penny earned.
So, to earn my pennies, I do not buy:
- Paper towels.
- Kleenex.
- Toilet paper.
- Wet wipes.
In my kitchen and for wiping food off my hands, I use cotton wash cloths.
To blow my nose, I use cotton handkerchiefs.
To wipe my behind, I use cotton wash cloths, different from the ones I use in the kitchen.
You can see the cotton washcloths in this video:
You can see the cotton washcloths in the last part of this video. They are in the bathroom, on the wire shelves above the toilet.
I case you think it is only me who would do that, check this out:
www.youtube.com/…
That is the link to a YouTube Short, posted by my sister-in-law, Ratana.
In that video, she demonstrates how she has made some receiving blankets into nice soft cotton wipes, to that she and her husband and their three children can use them to wipe their behinds.
And using cotton wipes is a smart prepper method, because we can wash the cotton wipes, and re-use them, over and over. As long as we keep up with washing them, no need to go to the store. Except to buy more laundry detergent!
Ha!
Here is a nice video made by my brother-in-law, of him working hard, to provide for himself and his wife and children:
Here is another short video, showing his oldest daughter:
On those last two videos, you can click on the rectangle at the bottom left, and watch it on YouTube.
Then, once you are at YouTube, at the bottom left, below the video, you can click on the name of the channel, to see the array of videos on that channel.
And you can click on the oval at the bottom left, that says, “subscribe.”
I suppose you already know all that, but I see that YouTube channels like Midwest Magic Cleaning, the one who posted the apocalyptic prepper hoard cleaning job, channels like that, are making lots and lots of money for those YouTube content creators.
So, as I see my brother-in-law and his wife working so hard to survive financially, I feel it is my duty to promote their channels, so that maybe someday soon, they might get some money from their YouTube channels.
By the way, I went back and looked at the last diary I posted about YouTube channels and their videos:
www.dailykos.com/…
So, in summary:
- Facebook, for family.
- Daily Kos, for you, my internet buddies.
- YouTube, for everything else, including more family interactions.
And soon, you will see more YouTube videos, recorded by me, posted here at the Itzl Alert Network!
So, rather than trying to paint word pictures of my veggie garden, and my cooking adventures, and my other chores, I can finally start showing you my videos.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
A video is worth ten thousand words.
Ha!
Hugs!
That was from last October.
Since then, I have quit watching Mark Narrations and dash cam car crashes.
Too much stress.
In the comments of that diary, some of you said you already watch Beau of the Fifth Column, and Roland Martin Unfiltered, the Black Star Network, and MSNBC.
So, I suppose I have no need to post any of their videos at this time.
Well, stay warm and well fed.
Hugs!
