I promised myself that I was not going to wade into the heated discussions (truthfully, “discussions” might not be the most accurate description of what had been occurring on this and other sites) around the Israel/Palestine war. And I really, really, really tried to keep my promise and just learn all I could from as many points of view as I could about this years-long situation that is often the gasoline that gets poured on the ever smoldering fire that too often defines the Mideast.
And also too (that’s “Palin-speak” y’all), I seldom-if ever-repost something from the generally right-wing Telegraph publcation, but this article (link below) is so right-on (no pun intended) (and comes on the heels of the Israeli hostage families storming the Parliament), I just had to share it and end my self-imposed blockade.

It is soooo worth the read and comes from someone with the bona fides, like the 81 year-old Ehud Barak, Israel’s most-decorated soldier and her former Prime Minister, to tell Bibi in so many words “dude, you got no clothes on.”
Some gems from the article from Barak:
*Bibi “should have resigned after the failures of October 7th” , “but he is ‘clinging’ to power and is propped up by far-right ministers who Barak compares to the “Proud Boys of Amerca.”
*There is a vacuum of leadership that will cause Israel to lose the last vestiges of Western support as the war drags on.
I urge you all to read it for yourselves because, in my view, Ehud Barak, an “elder statesman” who has fought for Isreael’s security, clearly understands that perpetual war cannot be the enduring solution.
The other countries in the region, especially Egypt, Jordan and the Saudis-(who, btw, said ‘NO DEAL’ on normalizing Saudi-Israel relations and on paying to re-build Gaza without a two-state agreement), who are trying to figure out a way outta this mess while also dealing with terrorist threats inside their own borders, are starting to get fed up with Bibi! (Dang man! You KNOW you’re in trouble when you got the SAUDIS lecturing you about peace and diplomacy!!)
So, it seems to me that after all is said and done, it comes down to what Dr. King and Marvin Gaye admonished during the turbulent Vietnam War era here in America:
“Brother, brother we don’t need to escalate war is not the answer; only love can conquer hate……...”
“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate……...darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that…..”
