This is a message from a Facebook friend that I just received :
"I've really been thinking about things you have said and I believe you are correct. This is the most important election of our time. It is a vote for democracy and I will castó vote against DT. Biden has my support from here out. "

Below is the context of our friendship and how our lives intersected

As many know I have been and remain extremely isolated because of several circumstances including substance abuse rehabilitation.
As many people here also know,after an extremely painful childhood I turned to fundamentalist Christianity. I literally burned the Bible and said, "If you exist, God, which I doubt, then come down and do something about it." Six months later, a next door neighbor at a dorm shared the gospel with me and I accepted Christ.
However, prior to this there was a fellow student at my high school that I came to know and I will describe how I came to know him. I was a rather good student despite my immense emotional pain. However, I was a geek. I grew, started working out, and played sports. I started getting more popular and invited to party and started drinking. But my freshman year was not fun. I stood up to a much bigger bully, but he was threatening me, and he, the friend referred to in the title, threatened the bully. This person who became my friend was not only bigger, but a martial artist. The bully backed down. This guy was a Christian. He took me to a Christian concert. Nevertheless, my conversion to fundamentalist Christian was yet future. .
.
After an absolutely emotionally devastating event, I got into a relationship that turned extremely abusive. This person had access to an enormous amount of narcotics and in my profound depression, I wrongly accepted and took a narcotic and became addicted. She pounced once I was addicted. After seven years of abuse, I enrolled myself in Laurel Ridge. Nobody else knew that I had a problem, but I knew. That was about five and a half years ago and I have never relapsed. I moved away from there to a city that had good experiences and two bad ones, one of them tied to the emotionally devastating event I referred to above. My substance abuse rehabilitation medication is one I must take for the rest of my life and it has very bad side effects for me. I have come to realize that I will remain in this emotional pain for the rest of my life.
The good thing is that I returned to earn two more degrees in mathematics. And I became progressive and joined Daily Kos, around 2005-2006.
As I have seen Christians become radical extremist theocrats and fundamentalist Christianity become an extremist far right nationalist movement, it has confirmed for me that I am on the right path. What absolutely convinced me that I am on the right path was the emergence of Donald Trump and the evangelical fundamentalist Christian church's embrace of him as well as their embrace of extremism, Christian nationalism, and conspiracy theories.
I tend to view the fact that the evangelical fundamentalist Christian church continued to support Donald Trump after the Hollywood Access video and the fact that 80% of evangelical fundamentalist Christians continued to support him after his lies and bigotry and the ten Obstruction of Justice findings documented by Republican former Director of FBI Robert Mueller and the insurrection and after each of the four Indictments with 91 felonies charged as very close to a formal disproof of Christianity.
Support of Evangelical fundamentalist Christianity implies support for Donald Trump. But support for Donald Trump implies False.
Or
So, proposition A is belief in fundamentalist evangelical Christianity.
[the most important doctrines of fundamentalist Christianity -e.g. humankind is fallen, every human is a sinner who has a sin nature, God's holiness demands a substitutionary atonement, God the Son became incarnate in the person of Jesus Christ who lived the perfect life we have not and died on the cross as our substitute being punished in our place for our sins, that we must rely only upon the death of Jesus Christ as the all sufficient payment for our sin and not at all rely upon anything we have ever done as giving us sufficient merit or any merit at all for eternal life, the inerrancy of the Christian Bible in the original manuscripts, the physical bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ after being killed by crucifixion three days prior, ...]
My sincere apologies if I screwed up on any of the most important fundamental doctrines of the evangelical fundamentalist Christianity
B
Support for Donald Trump
A-->B and B --> False
:. A--->B--->F
In any event, because I was viewed as a spiritual leader , most of my Facebook friends are fundamentalist Christians
However, my friend left evangelical Christianity. He is one of my Facebook friends.
We had some good dialogue in which he argued that both Trump and Biden are incompetent and equally bad . He was not going to vote for Donald Trump but he also was not going to vote for or support President Biden's reelection. I argued that Donald Trump is an existential threat to our democracy and a terrible human being and President Joe Biden is not in cognitive decline and has done a great job and is a good if imperfect man . I argued that if you are considering who is more moral and ethical, then you must consider the fact that Donald Trump attempted a coup and incited the insurrection and committed several serious crimes. From a practical point of view as people who are not members of the jury, we can conclude based upon the evidence available to us that Donald Trump is guilty of the several serious crimes for which he has been indicted. There is no such morally equivalent actions or crimes that President Biden is guilty of.
Again, here is the post from my Facebook friend:
"I've really been thinking about things you have said and I believe you are correct. This is the most important election of our time. It is a vote for democracy and I will cast my vote against DT. Biden has my support from here out. "
