I just watched President Biden's campaign speech at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, South Carolina. When Biden calls out criminal defendant Trump for his misdeeds, Biden's face and posture convey not only anger at Trump, but sadness that he has to say so to do right for our country. It is the look our dad's had when they punished us when we were growing up when they'd say, "This hurts me more than it hurts you."
.
It gives Biden no pleasure to attack criminal defendant Trump. He conveys that it feels bad to do so.
.
Unlike President Biden, criminal defendant Trump delights in attacking his enemies, real and imagined. He enjoys being cruel. He looks a little taller and happy when he's speaks badly of others.
.
All of us knew, or certainly knew of, little boys who were like criminal defendant Trump when we were growing up. The boy who used a magnifying glass to burn up ants, the boy who plucked the wings off flies to watch them die, the boy who chopped off the legs of cats and dogs because he enjoyed hearing the animals scream in pain — that’s Trump. No longer ten years old, but 77, criminal defendant Trump still behaves like the boy our parents and grandparents did their best to keep away from us, only much worse..
