Hiya, writers and frenz.
Howâd your DaKoWriMo go? Please mention in comments what you think about your goals and process this time around. Make it distinct vs other content, so I can copy accurately, âkay? And Iâll update across the evening and into the next couple of days.
DaKoWriMo goals & progress
Aashirs nani â Rewrite a series of scenes in a novella to be more historically plausible, with a pair of new characters. 1/11: ready to go, and even get to keep the puppies! 2/1 Goal met, and thank goodness thatâs done!
Dconrad: 20,000 words 1/25: no time to even think about writing, but have turned the page to âhopefully optimisticâ. 2/1 âUghdateâ: January wasnât a very good month.
Mercy Ormont: get "Cholly" ready to publish on Amazon. 2/1 Not yet.
mettle fatigue: any least bit of fiction 1/25: leasting via WO challenges. 2/1 Just barely.
reppa: goal: Write Something! 2/1 7000 words for the month (I averaged about 225 words per day).
RiveroftheWest: illos for the riverboat story 1/11: art supplies sorted. 2/1 supplies sorted, and added to as necessary, plus good containers/storage items. Now need racks for big unframed stuff, and drawing/painting surfaces.
ThurzdaysChild: weekly writing sessions, one to four hours each. 1/11: first session 4 hours. 2/1: Completed 4 writing sessions (Jan. 5, 12, 18, & 25) 13 hours total--a lucky number! A big chunk of WIP is at 'beta readers' awaiting feedback, shorter excerpts with othersâŠ.Now to resume the editing / revising slog on the remaining contentâŠ
Besides process, a big factor in getting ink on page is the stuff to do it with. Every now and then, we report to one another about apps, programs, computers, devices, peripherals, websites, books, desk equipment, pens, notebooks, file-boxes, shelving, containers, and anything or everything else good in the writing space.
As everyone here knows, the entire realm of âstuffâ is not my strength.. So, how âbout everyone chime in and share! Give us some new impetus going forward. Writers gotta keep up on whatâs out there, after all. New stuff, upcoming stuff with potential that youâve heard about, old stuff thatâs still good or even great!
AND letâs mention other stuff that seemed like it oughta help, but instead keeps being a distraction or spawning obstacles. Gotta keep a sharp eye out for potholes in the road to progress!
One bit of news I can contribute: Nicola Morgan, the self-described Crabbit Old Bat whose blogspot â http://helpineedapublisher. blogspot.com/ â was highly recommended by SenSho for having lots more in it than the name suggests. Much of it of permanent value!. Itâs still there to mine for its treasures, but going forward sheâs got a new venue: https://nicolamorgansbrain. substack.com/.
Now, if youâd also like to write a CHALLENGE tonight, how about a scene or moment with a character (biological or otherwise) interacting with some of the stuff of the writing life? :D
Meanwhile, the floor is open for the topic of stuff. Well, whatcha got? :)
Write On! will be a regular Thursday night diary (8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific) until it isnât.
