The Russians didn’t see this coming until they saw it coming.
It looks like Tucker Carlson didn’t get any love or kisses from Putin.
Did Tucker forget to genuflect? Did he forget to pack his kneepads?
According to reports, Putin didn't like Tucker Carlson - "a snob and a useful idiot who got a meaningful fee, but was lazy and lacked creativity." Kovalchuk family believes they could have done better with Tucker Carlson, but "everything was wasted." There's a wave of complaints in the Kremlin.
Two hours is some serious disrespect.
Masha Gessen wrote a commentary in The New Yorker about the interview that pretty much emasculates Carlson.
Here was an easy mark. Carlson meekly tried to interrupt Putin a couple of times, to ask a question he seemed stuck on: Why hadn’t all this history and these territorial issues come up when Putin first became President, in 2000? It was an ill-informed question—Putin has trafficked in historical revisionism from the start and became increasingly obsessed with Ukraine after the Orange Revolution, in 2004—and an easy one for Putin to ignore. It seemed to show that Carlson was less well briefed than Putin, who dropped biographical trivia about Calrson into the conversation, a trademark intimidation tactic of a K.G.B. agent. He mentioned, for example, that Carlson had unsuccessfully tried to join the C.I.A.
….
However obscure the subject of Putin’s discursive exercise was, the genre probably looked recognizable to Americans. This was a conversation between an older man who has read a history book and fancies himself an expert and his eager nephew, who is trying to feign knowledge in a subject he failed in college. Except one of these guys reaches millions of viewers and the other has nuclear weapons.
Russia continues to commit war crimes in Kharkiv.
"The family hid in the basement when the alarm went off. But this time, the fire reached their yard. As they ran out, two cars and fuel were already in flames near the house. They were all caught in the fire. We learned that the oldest and the youngest sons stayed with their mother. The middle son, Mykhailo, followed his father. The father likely passed out first, and the youngest son curled up in a corner of the kitchen. That's where we found him. The mother and the other two sons tried to flee to the bathroom, holding the children close. They all suffered severe burns, and we will need DNA tests to confirm their identities."
Maybe for an encore this Russian can sing a song while walking through a blasted-out kindergarten or a church.
This sick bastard talks about how they aim for hallways when they target an apartment building. The Admiral Gorshkov should be Ukraine’s next sea drone target. Sent that piece of shit to the bottom of the Black Sea.
I posted yesterday about a massive fire that engulfed apartment buildings in Moscow. What is really odd about these fires is that it initially involved only the roofs of these buildings. I can’t think of what would cause that other than arson.
Avdiivka is still in bad shape. That sounds like a broken record, but what is happening is that Russia advances a few meters at a time and it seems like status quo, but that slow advance starts to add up.
One of my favorite sayings — Money talks and bullshit walks.
Turner is the Republican chair of the House Intelligence Committee, but I’ll believe this when it happens.
Maybe they can be saved and put to good use by Ukraine. Maybe not. It might turn out to be more trouble than it is worth, but if volunteers want to try it, God bless them.
In the meantime, we should be sending Blackhawks and Apaches.
Irish supporters step up with supplies for the wounded.
Five years in prison for pretending to tickle the breast of a statue?
Earlier, a Russian blogger Alena Agafonova was detained at one of the Moscow airports and sent to a pre-trial detention center for a month because of a video in which she "tickles" the breast of the Motherland monument.
Agafonova is facing criminal charges under the article "Rehabilitation of Nazism" ("Defiling the symbols of Russia's military glory").
During the trial, 23-year-old Alena burst into tears. She faces up to 5 years in prison.
Oops.
Prediction: The second guy in this video interview will go to Ukraine and after three months will be making a video appeal to Putin complaining that he hasn’t been paid and that his commanders are stupid and brutal. He will then end up fertilizing a field or go home in a body bag.
Maybe we could repaint the desert camo before we send these over.
Assuming this is actually the same tank that was part of the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956 this would be a fitting way for it to be taken out.
Rest in peace.
I hope battlefield sushi is better than gas station sushi.
