This weekend, hundreds of thousands of people around the world will show up for a global rally in commemoration of the victims of the russian war in Ukraine and in support of Ukraine’s fight against the criminal russian invasion.
UPDATE: readers report that some rallies are scheduled not just for the 24th, but for the 25th, and, maybe, some were already held on the 23rd. Please check the place and date carefully.
Ukrainian World Congress and Ukrainska Pravda have set up an interactive world map where you can find – or register — a Ukrainian support rally in your city, county, or state. The screenshot is above, you can access it following this link: standwithukraineworld.ukrainianworldcongress.org.
The same website has proposed rally banners and other materials that you can print out and use at your rally or showcase on your social media, your house, or your business.
Unfortunately, the website and the materials are partially in Ukrainian, but there is hopefully enough English to navigate around it. If you have any issues with that, please write questions in the comments — I will try to answer them during the first hour after publication of this diary and then tomorrow when I wake up in the morning in Kyiv.
UPDATE: some people reported they had problems navigating the map. Hint: there is a search bar right to the left of the 360° sign. Type in “USA” to focus the map on the USA, and find the place(s) nearest to you, and just hover the cursor of your mouse over that point to see more info on the event. Or just type your city in the same search bar. Also, see the link to a different list below.
UPDATE: thanks to the excellent quaoar, here is a link to another list of Ukrainian rallies tomorrow — apparently, in better English. I do not know whether the lists are the same, I assume that they are independent from one another, so it is worth checking both of them.
One of my university teachers, the first real-life American whom I met personally, said to our class that his grandmother used to tell him that “history is made by those who show up”. Please help history to be made in the right direction by showing up at a Ukrainian rally on February 24, 2024.
P.S. If you can’t find your place in those lists, remember that they are not exhaustive. Try googling a local Ukrainian community/organization/church around your place — if they exist, they most surely have something tomorrow. This is how I found three Dallas events for one of the DK readers just now.
