After reading through a few articles I see one of the possible defenses may be Missouri’s stand your ground law.
Mays says someone said they were going to get him. He took it as the person was going to kill him. That one could be a big stretch of the law.
Miller says he only shot because someone shot at him and a friend was shot in the neck. This one could get him off Scot free.
With Missouri’s and other states stand your ground injuring or killing others while responding to a perceived threat is okay. After all you can’t have people worrying about others safety if someone says something that puts you in fear.
In a way it’s surprising more people didn’t pull out guns and just started firing into the crowd. I’ve been waiting to see a mass shooting happen at a rally or other group event. You watch all these gun rights groups armed to the teeth at protests knowing it may happen at anytime.
The right will blame everything other than the lax gun controls. The gop/nra won’t accept responsibility for the laws they passed. They will probably use it as a reason more people need to be armed.
