Columbia, SC- Rep. Marvin Pendarvis has introduced an anti gerrymandering bill in the SC House of Representatives which would create a citizens board from both major parties and minority parties to draw up plans for the State's legislative and congressional districts. You can read the text of
bill 4222 at on the legislative website.
Pendarvis and supporters of the bill will be at the Statehouse this week organizing support for the bill, badly needed in the polarized and dysfunctional politics of SC. Even conservative legislation can’t pass the Republican dominated legislature due to the power of extreme voices, coming from districts so polarized that actual dialogue with the public has shut down.
