Super Bowl Sunday is an American secular holiday like no other. This year's model, LVIII, just might attract the single largest live broadcast audience in U.S. history, all thanks to the presence of the country's biggest superstar, Taylor Swift, who will be in a luxury box with the family of her boyfriend, Chiefs Tight End and touchdown machine Travis Kelce.
So far, it all sounds quite wholesome. However, what makes this year's Super Bowl quintessentially 2024 is the way that right-wing media has proclaimed the entire spectacle surrounding the Super Bowl to be an elaborate Deep State conspiracy designed to damage Donald Trump and propel Joe Biden to a landslide re-election. Taylor, you see, doesn't much like Trump, and Travis has consistently expressed support for Black Lives Matter. Clearly the fix is in.
However, at PDA we're going to take a more productive approach to politics on Super Bowl Sunday. A football game is a competition. So are politics. PDA needs to have a game plan designed for victory, just like the Chiefs and 49ers.
So, this Sunday we're going to be talking Tactics, short and medium term Strategy, and a Vision of what the progressive movement hopes to achieve.
We want to hear your ideas, so RSVP here to join the conversation.
