As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Good morning friends! Welcome to another Saturday. Congratulations on making it through another week. Do you remember back in the day, when companies, and even our government used to value and protect our privacy? This was back before the days of targeted advertising, before big business realized that they could give a a service, or even a product for free, and that by doing so, they could trick us into letting them turn ourselves into the product that they bought and sold.
Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t some red pill, blue pill scenario. I’m not going to slip into a Laurence Fishburne impression and try to convince you that The Matrix has you. This is stuff you already know. Big tech, from Microsoft, to Apple, to Google, is tracking you. They are buying and selling your information every day of the week, which is why every few years, Microsoft offers to upgrade you to the newest, shiniest version of their operating system, all for the low low price of Free.
The question is, how can you continue to reap the benefits and still keep a grip on at least -some- of your privacy? Can you pick and choose how much information, and what information, you are willing to share, in exchange for the convenience that big tech offers? the answer is, yes. Below are a few videos that will show you how you can take back some of your privacy, and yes, I am well aware of the irony of preaching privacy, while posting videos from youtube.
