Good news in Colorado. We held our Eagle County Democratic caucus, assembly today, Saturday March 9, 2024. We had over 325 attend our virtual Zoom event. And that doesnt count candidates and elected officials like Rep. Joe Neguse-CO-02 and Adam Frisch-CO-03.
And the word is that Colorado Dems throughout the state are seeing comparable strong turnout. And there is no longer a Presidential race (preference) at the caucus in Colorado. We had our presidential primary on Super Tuesday, March 5th. Our local top-of-ticket was a three-way race for an open county commissioner seat.
Congratulations to my candidate, born and raised in Vail, Tom Boyd who made the primary ballot. Only two of the three made the ballot by earning 30% or more of the vote.
This was all citizens willing to come out on a blue sky ski day and choose thier candidates for a local race for county commissioner. I think we filled all delegate slots to the judicial, legislative, state assemblies, and congressional and state conventions. Remarkable.
We are fired up in Eagle County, Colorado! Home of Mikaela Shiffrin, considered the the world's greatest ski champion.
Fired up! Ready to go! Si Se Puede!
EditorNote. I started this story as a comment in GNR last night. Realizing I was so enthusiastic about the week for the Democrats starting with the great primary wins for President Biden, then that incredible State of the Union speech, and finally our caucus that saw what is maybe a record turnout without a presidential race attached, I thought I would share this in a diary with you all. I hope you find similar enthusiasm in your area. And thanks to GNR who inspire us to share the good news. gcd
