"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
George Orwell, 1984, p. 103
The warning signs of the threat the 77-year-old, increasingly demented, felon-in-waiting, adjudicated sexual abuser Donald John Trump (Mafia name: "Donnie Putin Fluffer") poses to the United States' legal, political, and social system flash brighter each day as the disgraced (and disgraceful) twice-impeached, four-times-indicted Trump daily bellows his authoritarian dreams.
For anyone still puzzled about what would lie ahead in a Nazified regime run by Trump and populated by the likes of Stephen Miller, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, other members of the coterie of Putin- and Orbán-loving Republicans, and an array of Christianist white-supremacist Nazi sympathizers, the preview already exists.
- Start with the Amazon Prime’s four-season streaming series The Man in the High Castle (loosely based on Philip K. Dick's novel of the same title ). Combine it with Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale (here, here, and here), George Orwell's 1984 (here and here), and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 (here, here, and here), and you've uncovered the truly soulless nightmare of Führer Trump's über-authoritarian dream world.
- Eugen Kogon's The Theory and Practice of Hell: The German Concentration Camps and the System Behind Them (here and here) offers a roadmap for Trump's widely proclaimed Retribution Tour if he manages to steal the 2024 election.
- Keep in mind Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century and The Road to Unfreedom: Russia, Europe, America, as well as Robert Paxton’s The Anatomy of Fascism.
