The MSM has become a joke, and McAfee’s recent ruling in the GA RICO indictment case profoundly underscores this point.
One headline of note, and a prime example, is from Esquire Magazine, which makes a big deal about Judge McAfee’s removal of a few counts from a hefty indictment list.
Esquire, oh Esquire, how the mighty doth fall.
The Real Problem with Judge McAfee dropping Three Charges against Trump
Any news coverage that contains the words "Trump" and "dismissed" changes the political calculus out in the world.
Changes the political calculus…? For dropping a few counts that may later be refiled? Esquire admits much later in the body of the article that:
In a technical legal sense, this isn't remotely fatal to Fani Willis' conspiracy-to-ratfck case going forward.
Really MSM, really?
I invite you guys to find the worst offenders online and post some of the gobblygook below—wait, don’t. I don’t want you to hurt your precious brain cells!
I will never get over the guilt of their needless demise!
My two-minute video below laughs in the general direction of this mess:
So, what had happened was…
Both Palmer Report and Rawstory shine the appropriate bit of light on Judge McAfee’s recent decision to dismiss a few of Fani Willis' indictment counts on a technicality.
Per the Palmer Report:
…here are the facts: the main RICO part of the case (against Trump and others) remains intact. In spite of some misleading narratives, Trump’s phone call to Brad Raffensperger is remaining part of the case under the RICO charges. And while McAfee did set aside six charges, he stated that they can be refiled if they’re worded differently.
So, what actually went wrong in the Fulton County case this morning? Nothing, really. All that noise you’re hearing on TV right now is just… noise.
In other words, this is not a dismissal of the case or even an indicator that Fani Willis is off the case—at all.
Rawstory writes:
Judge Scott F. McAfee eliminated some of the Fulton County election interference charges against Donald Trump on Wednesday, and some legal analysts believe that gives a clear hint about how he will rule on disqualifying District Attorney Fani Willis.
Former impeachment lawyer and ethics czar Norm Eisen explained that the move is "somewhat of an indication that Judge McAfee will NOT disqualify Willis."
…
Writing on social media, Eisen explained that the judge is, "Refusing to throw out key elements of the RICO charge, although he is tossing a few of the later counts against a few of the defendants for lack of specificity."
"If he were gonna disqualify Willis, he likely would not have bothered to wrap up this very detailed order, since he’s busy and disqualification will effectively freeze the case for a while," he said.
"But that is only a mild indication, not a strong one. He could be thinking something different. That being said, it tends to reinforce my strong view of the applicable law and the evidence that disqualification does not apply."
Okay, I think we can take a collective breath here.
I don’t have a crystal ball, so I cannot say whether or not Fani Willis will remain on the GA RICO case, but the fact Judge McAfee didn’t issue a ruling saying he would dismiss the entire indictment means everything is still game on as of right now!
In the interim, let us remember the MSM is out to make money with click-bait headlines; they are not our friends—as Trump’s trials progress, we will have to read between the headlines.
