The Trump braggadocio fumbles keep coming and this one about who wants to be his VP, begs us to pick it up and run with it.
From his recent Newsmax interview with Greg Kelly at about 1:35 mark on this link shown by Colbert last night. (Scroll down to the Colbert You Tube segment).
Here’s the exact quote about his VP search, said on camera (CAPS are mine):
“ There’s not a person in politics that doesn’t want it and THAT INCLUDES DEMOCRATS. If I wanted I’d have a Democrat, I’d have a Liberal, I’d have ANYBODY I want.”
Yes, you can see and hear him say this.
So PLEASE:
Shouldn’t we write our Democratic Congressmen (and women), and Senators and ask that they circulate and SIGN a Petition stating:
In response to Mr. Trump’s claim (noted above), we hereby promise on our sacred honor that if Mr. Trump offered the VP job on his ticket we would NOT EVER, EVER accept it. (Even though as with the last guy, it comes with the tail-end perk of a gallows with the VP’s name on it.)
And just like in the Declaration of Independence, a list of actual legislator’s signatures would follow. And then we present it publicly (Maybe along with a certified LIAR’s certificate.) Maybe after the Democrats, Nikki Haley would even sign it.
WHY WE SHOULD DO THIS: Remember recent elections where Republican’s would take something “middling” and hang it like an albatross around the Democrat’s neck:
— Al Gore’s brag about being instrumental in creating the internet. (which became the major reason for getting the LIAR label.)
— John Kerry’s hesitation on voting on the Iraq War, due to Bush’s inauthentic reasons for going along. (Which became Kerry the “flip flopper.” )
___ Wasn’t there the silly Dukakis in the Tank photo?
These meme’s worked because Republicans were willing to throw them at us OVER AND OVER. Even though they were exaggerations out of context. Time for us to do the same and use Trump’s own video against him juxtaposed with the signed “never one of us for his VP” document by Democrats.
We have observed: nothing works better on vulnerable swing voters (of which there are now many) than repeated images of the opposition candidate being plain ridiculous. Sometimes hammering a stupid moment gets more mileage than giving a list that while true, voters won’t remember as well.
Trump keeps giving us the shovel. Let’s use it, please.
