When Trump posts things like “A President of the United States must have full immunity, without which it would be impossible for him to properly function.”, the response should be that we tried that already, 250 years ago. The time was the late 1700s and the tyrant was King George III. The Declaration of Independence documents the whole situation for us.

The entire Declaration of Independence is a masterful expression of a freedom worthy people calling out a tyrant for what he is and has done.
One sobering thing about the last time we had a tyrant in charge is that it took nearly 2 decades to throw off the tyrant and his armies by war and setup and put in place a new government to try to ensure that this would never happen again. Of course, the critical thing is that there is never any guarantee that a tyrant can be overthrown.
The scary part is in realizing those things that Jefferson cited George III for doing that are in line with what Trump has done or has promised to do. So when Trump speaks about needing full immunity as President, he is expressing his need to be above the law, like a King, and as a result speaking like a true tyrant!
We must fight the political battle every day in every legal way we can think of to prevent his election to ensure as Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address : “… that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
