I really apologize for not meeting my deadline with a story. Too many balls, not enough hands. Instead, an open thread, and hopefully some good discussion!
I have often wondered about the various people interested in muting capitalism. Some of us are definitely well versed in economics, although I am not. I am more well versed in cooking and coding, gardening and jazz. What I do understand is the amazingly large burden capitalism places on our society in so many ways. It causes so much harm, directly and indirectly, from lack of available treatment for mental illness, or any responsible health care to workplace’s preventable “accidents”, sometimes fatal. It typically falls directly on the backs of the workers who’s labor make captalism possible. It causes extreme stress, houselessness, illness, starvation, and an upper class to “rule” us, do their bidding, buy their crap, accept their labor offerings. Oh, let us not forget the extremely classless, or “uber-rich” class, so unbelievably divorced from answering to anyone they become self-immune to responsibility, resulting sometimes in amazing failures from inhaling their own anal vapors to the point of near asphyxiation!
All of that said, the overarching reason for me is feeding people and stopping climate change. All of the research for my pocket book led to one searing solution: eliminating capitalism is the first necessary step.
So, back to us regular folk. Those are some of my personal views and feelings about capitalism, as well as reference to my level of education, economics-wise. Why are you concerned with Capitalism? What are your reasons, interest, etc… ? Please comment :)
