Goodness, I’m surprised at the reception this has received! Even on Trending. Thank you, and I appreciate the thoughts and info that have been posted.
To clarify, I was not predicting outcomes, but instead trying to imagine what Trompe might be thinking, or more accurately, worrying about.
I consider Trompe to be a mobster, and from what I’ve seen, the thing that frightens mobsters is Bigger Mobsters.
Thanks again all!
This should be a comment, but nobody will see it if I do that. And I hope to learn some things, which means someone who knows stuff would need to see this, and respond. Instructively. Hopefully with a bit of patience and forbearance, but I know where I am, my expectations are managed :-P.
So a very short diary it is, and I won’t be able to babysit it, got too much to do… I will check in to rec comments and learn from anyone who decides to play teacher, and thank them [hopefully :-P].
There’s an excellent diary about Trompe getting nervous regarding lack of underwriters for his appeal bond in the NY fraud case.
Let me suggest a reason for the nerves that I haven’t seen as yet. [Apologies if it’s out there and I missed seeing it.]
If Trompe’s buildings are seized, what is the impact on tenants/owners? There’s a lot of chatter about repurposing the buildings — heck, I contributed some thoughts of my own along those lines. But that chatter all seems to assume that the buildings are empty. And that nobody owns any of the spaces. Or that a natural consequence of seizure would be loss of tenancy for those inside.
???
Real estate is NOT my thing, I know less than nothing about it. But I know that dubious real estate, such as Trompe seems to specialize in, sorry about the dangling preposition, is a popular place for money launderers. So they buy the “luxury condos” and may furnish but never inhabit them.
So what happens to all those Organizatsya types if their condos just up and disappear? Assuming that is what happens to them.
Or if they are given pennies on the dollar — oh, oops, sanctions, damn, y’all are SOL probably — for their launderings?
And what do you suppose could happen to the person who facilitated all that laundering and then, because he could control neither his mouth nor his ego, deliberately threw all of it into the crapper?
He is a Bugbear of Very Little Brain, M. Trompe, but I think he has enough brain and enough imagination to envision things that -might- happen. In his place, which thank God I shall never be, I wouldn’t be nervous, I’d be scared shitless, packing some ready cash, and looking for a REALLY good plastic surgeon.
Anyway, I could be massively mistaken, totally twisted, wremarkably wrong. So enlighten me, Knowledgeable Ones...
