I’m surprised not to have seen this in the KOS recently. It’s a biggie, because it affects possibly 60 million Americans.
The ACP program subsidised Internet access for those who would otherwise struggle to afford it. Military families and Southern families are by far its majority users, and those demographics also tend toward GOP politics, so it is surprising that Republicans have not done the numbers and realised this problem — which they have caused — affects their own constituents disproportionately.
"The House Republicans attempting to demonstrate that they are cutting back on government spending makes re-funding the ACP very difficult," Blair Levin, a telecom industry analyst at New Street Research, wrote in a research note in January. "It is unlikely the House Republican leadership will allow the bill to go to the floor."
A lot of news outlets are carrying this right now, You can find a large selection here, but they pretty much are all copies of the original piece by CNN.
