Now that SCOTUS has ruled as we figured they would, why are so many people surprised? Worse, why are so many people pouring gasoline everywhere with their hair not just on fire, but engulfed in an absolute blazing inferno? Why are they trying to spread it everywhere I go? Or at least, everywhere I’ve been looking. It’s the peak of inconsideration to try and yank as many people into a spiral of doom as possible.
In November 2024, Biden is fighting Trump at the ballot box. That’s going to be the case. That was always going to be the case. It was considered common knowledge besides doomsayers who bang the drum of Biden’s age again and again. Now all of a sudden when that’s been further confirmed by the SCOTUS ruling, it’s panic in the streets. Time to take a mallet to America as we know it, everyone for themselves.
But many people for months spoke as if a Biden Vs. Trump rematch was coming. As if it was set in stone. That it was the best matchup for Biden to take the win. With each passing day Trump unfurls a tiny bit, becomes a little less strong of a candidate, a little less viable. A majority of the posts I saw on the subject gave similar rhetoric when contextually appropriate. So why the change of heart, why the change of mindset?
It’s not just the defeatist, alarmist, hair-on-fire mindset that’s the problem however. Lately, people have been firing out violent rhetoric like a bazooka. Advocating for murder, violence, or all out civil war. It’s not as widespread but it is concentrated in at least one diary on Kos. This rhetoric does pepper itself throughout the site as well from time to time. A decent look at the Hiddens is proof enough. Besides the fact it’s against ROTR, how does openly calling for violence make us look good to the outside world?
From those less politically involved who probably vote Dem to the MAGA members who actually can be talked out of the cult, they could see a Kos post at somepoint in time. And advocating for stomping and kicking and gouging of our enemy’s eyes is most likely not a good look. Imagine what your employer or a hypothetical one would think if they saw you fanning the flames of that rhetoric.
Look at the former Jan. 6 Rioter who casted their Primary vote for Biden in South Carolina. As the sentiment of the Do You Like Winning? diary states, these seemingly unshakable cults, their mindsets and them as a whole, can be broken through. I’m not saying to try if it’s a risk to your life or what have you… But it’s not impossible. Although, will people actually listen to what we have to say in terms of policy if we’re yucking it up, just absolutely giggling about putting a bullet in their brain?
See here’s another thing, even if it’s a tangent. I’m on base level disability. I haven’t had the time nor the opportunity to squirrel away money for The Great Calamity. That mallet lands on the US and I’m dead, a goner. That in of itself is doomsaying but I don’t see what I’m supposed to do. Moving is Expensive as Hell and if I had to try and move away from the Neo-Confederacy or whatever it looks like, so will many many people at once. A great refugee crisis that… People don’t seem to want to think about. I see some of y’all have cash stored and your passports ready to book it. But not everyone is lucky enough to have that option. The single mothers, the disabled, the homeless, or even just those living paycheck to paycheck. Those we claim to advocate for. They don’t have that option. Maybe think about that too.
The US shattering like stained glass, or crumbling outright under the rule of Trump+Putin. Both of these concepts sort of meshed together in the above paragraph I admit but... Neither one looks good for The Little Guy.
As for Biden Vs. Trump which I wrote this diary for originally, let’s just do what we’ve been planning to do even with the SCOTUS ruling in the back of our minds. Get out the vote, Win. All basic stuff. A Trump that’s dissolving in body and mind looks like a very beatable Trump. And the cult leader dissolving is a good sign of the cult doing the same.
