I have been overwhelmed with the support I have received from the community and staff, to I want to provide you all with an update.
It’s Friday, and the phone call we have anxiously awaiting,
knowing it will come, knowing what it will be, now will not come today. Two new neurologists have been brought in to be sure if they have not missed anything. There is a swelling on her upper neck. I refuse to get my hopes up, but I amgrateful they are making the effort.
I was told to stay home and take care of my wife, which I did yesterday and I will do today. It is good that I did, as I missed a scene of my son climbing into her bed and screaming her name, begging her to wake up. If I had witnessed that…
This is what it’s like for an entire family to implode. An old
friend who has known our family for fifteen years, and who
has helped organize and broadcast our granddaughter’s softball league since she was four, came by our house and visited for over two hours. He had been in her ICU room for the past two days, and I think he is responsible for bringing in one of the new doctors, whose daughter played on our granddaughter’s team.
I fell into his arms when he arrived, as he is responsible
for some of our granddaughter’s happiest childhood years, and
our happiest retirement years. It is going to be a long
weekend, but we all have our jobs to do.
