In last night’s SOTU address, President Joseph R. Biden laid out, in clear contrasts, His vision for our country versus TFG’s dystopian nightmare of a “vision.” And the clear contrasts could NOT be any more evident.
Darkness vs light.
Past grievances vs future opportunities.
Optimistic faith in the American people vs denigrating our citizens and immigrants who, more often than not, contribute to make our country a better place.
Sanity vs crazy.
Order vs chaos.
Expanding individual human rights vs taking them away. (In particular womens’ rights to make their OWN decisions about whether to have an abortion.) (I do wish he would have been even bolder and actually said the word, “abortion.” But that’s ok, we all got the point)
Discord vs U-N-I-T-Y (shout-out to Queen Latifah).
Our President was quick-witted, funny AF, self-deprecating (can’t pull that off if you’re an over-grown,orange man-baby), and he sucker-punched the Repubs into backing off-at least publicly-for now, their plans to cut Social Security, AGAIN-like he did the last SOTU address!!
He called them out for posing with IRA checks for their districts’ infrastructure projects while they voted AGAINST the bill itself. (“Let me know if y’all don’t want that money.”)
In short, last night’s SOTU address by our seasoned, wise, sincere, true-public-SERVANT-President was a glorious sight to behold. And after last night, for me (and to those in my community, especially, I “bet-not” hear another person, young or not, open ‘they” mouth to utter the words, “but-his-age!” You REALLY don’t want to do that in front of me.
Let’s get to work. We’ve got a Democracy to save. Ain’t nobody got time for no more NONSENSE!!
