I’m surprised this is getting more coverage here but perhaps I’ve missed it.
About a week ago the CEO of Kellogg’s made one of the most out-of-touch comments in years. In response to Americans struggling to make ends meet he suggested they eat cereal for dinner. Of course the fact that Kellogg’s has raised their prices repeatedly since the pandemic even that box of cereal is hard to afford for some folks. Kellogg’s is now actually marketing this idea
The good news is this is going over like the proverbial lead balloon. (Yes, I’m aware the Myth Buster team managed to get one to float — barely) and a grass root movement to boycott Kellogg’s is taking off on social media. TikTok is full of content on the boycott that’s supposed to start in full force April 1st and run until June 30th. Apparently there are sightings of shelves full of Kellogg’s cereal despite heavy discounts. Could this be a sign consumers are finally fed up with the 10 or so companies that basically control our entire food supply?
