Talk about a grilling on Raw Story. As “NBC Host Under Fire...” reports, singer/songwriter/activist/fact-finder Bill Madden makes bold to belie the networks’ misinfo-as-usual (this time, as hawked by Kristen Welker). Where she soft pedals the prolifically indicted Former Guy’s rages against judges and their families as a “reminder” of how split we’ve grown, Madden finds the backstory and Trump’s current vitriol alike speaking volumes.
Bravo for Bill. Hitting notes Big Media strains to miss, he recalls how, in early 1930s Germany, media disinfo did not pan out well. And, as ever, history repeats. On the network whose top brass (just last week) embraced (at no small cost) the Stepford Trump Ronna “Legitimate Political Discourse” McDaniel, Welker’s effective whitewashing of Trump hits a sour note, indeed.
Granted, after moderating the 10/22/20 Presidential debate, Welker drew kudos. But she had an advantage. In light of Trump’s relentless verbal blitz against now-President Biden on 9/29, the nominees were placed (on 10/22) under a Damoclean gag order: spout off out of turn (Trump’s stock-in-trade) and get cut off.
With Trump’s lout-mouth so curbed, Welker’s job became feasible. (Alas, on the Ellipse, no one could gag his tirades to march “to the Capitol….to fight like hell!”. That Welker, NBC, and almost any Big News org you might care to name effectively strive to memory hole the GOP’s J6 coup- as if to conjure a down-to-the-wire, ratings-boosting horse race, thereby jeopardizing our republic’s future- seems not to matter. Sad.)
One might extend that equine trope to a horse in Orwell’s Animal Farm (Boxer, by name). Smack on the face of it, said media-fueled race smacks of sending Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty to the nearest glue factory. (Shades of poor old Boxer. Oh, well.)
Truth to tell, the best “reminders” of how split we’ve grown are the J6 tapes (on the Ellipse, and within and without the Capitol). Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is selling something bad (not to say evil), indeed.
