Hey Folks! Old white guy who never attended a law school here. I’m going to go out on a limb and make some predictions for the start of Trump’s trial on election interference tomorrow. Actually, they are very easy predictions, almost along the lines of “The Sun rises in the East.”
- Judge Merchan will either ignore Trump’s latest move to defy his gag order, or Merchan will simply give Trump another useless warning to abide by the gag order.
- The reason for Trump walking free while shitting on the legal system was finally pointed out to me. No judge wants to be attacked for “election interference” by jailing Trump. Little problem with that thinking: if Trump is found guilty and say Merchan wants to send him to prison, what the fuck then?
- I will not be watching MSNBC during the morning or afternoon hours because MSNBC has decided to let the D Team cover the trial: Katy Tur, Chris Jansing, Ana Cabrera, Jose Diaz-Balart, and (drum roll) Andrea Mitchell. I will be watching for other live updates on the trial from other sources because I don’t want to lose any more neurons with exposure to D Team radiation. Just so you all know, here is the latest insipid political insight from Katy Tur: she claimed that Trump “pivoted” on his abortion stance last week. No link for now, but I caught that last week on her program (I was flipping around). Just so you know, even Republican Dana Bash on CNN doesn’t use that word anymore when describing Trump.
- Katie Phang pointed out one of the most important parts for the start of the trial: Trump has to sit there for 8 hours each day for 4 days out of the week. And in theory, he can’t shoot his mouth off and try to control what is going on in the court room. Trump gets a one hour break for lunch, where I fully expect him to have a meltdown on Truth Social or scream at reporters on the court house steps.
