While many people have the belief that things may be about to change in America politically I do not believe that this is the case. In fact I expect that for the forseable future America will continue to have a Republican led government that is unresponsive to real problems, and that the Democrats will continue to provide no leadership whatsoever in any direction away from the the collision course for disaster we are on.
I base this upon the fact that we are currently 5 months out from a major election, yet at this point I do not see ANY cohesive effort by democratic party leadership to aggressively fight against the lies and corruption of the current administration. there is no cohesive media effort to define the problems as republican led and generated. there is no cohesive effort to motivate people at a grass roots level for change, and to bring out non voters to the electoral process. There are no efforts to insure that voting is carried out in a legal and legitimate matter. In fact, business here continues pretty much as usual. In spite of the quagmire in Iraq, not a single democrat seems to be able to articulately voice a coherent argument against the war (John Murtha being the one possible exception) and no one is attempting to articulate a serious alternative plan for the mid east. meanwhile the situation continues to deteriorate.
If you feel that I am wrong, please make your case. I must say however I do not see any major changes taking place in 2006. My own belief is that things will have to get VERY bad before we see any actual movement for a change. this could be a major terrorist attack, a financial meltdown and ensuing depression, or something along these lines. until that occurs, I fully expect that business will continue as usual.
