Last week I had a
burst of inspiration.
What if all or a large percentage of the people who vote for Ned Lamont in tomorrow's primary election, dyed their index finger purple BLUE!?
Think of the multiple layers of symbolism that would have?
A) It would be an ironic comment on Joe's head-in-the-sand support for George W. Bush's Iraq war plan.
B) It would be a symbolic in your face gesture about the loss of freedom and democracy in the United States under the Bush regime.
C) It would be a way to remind people of the voter fraud and stolen elections that the Republicans have engaged in over the past 6 years.
D) And it would demoralize Lieberman supporters, who would see purple BLUE fingers everywhere.
So, here's what I suggest. Poll watchers and workers for the Lamont campaign should offer people leaving the polls (staying the legally mandated distance away from the polling place) a bottle of purple ink into which they may dip their fingers.
Not everyone would get it, of course. Or would agree to do it. But, I think a siginificant number of them would.
And, the gesture would get picked up by all the national news organizations - the having a multiplier effect for all the messages I listed above.
Think how much fun it will be to turn that stupid, neocon, Bush supporting gesture of chickenhawk solidarity with the Iraqi people into an ironic putdown of those very same chickenhawk idiots.
So...spread the meme!
But, one of the commenters on my earlier diary [which was hijacked by a stupid meta-argument so I had to repost this] had an even better idea! Instead of dyeing their fingers purple, Lamont voters should dye them Blue! As in "Blue states." As in "true Blue Democrat," rather than purple Joe.
I like that twist!
