Tuesday's Fighting Dem: Bryan Lentz

Tue Oct 18, 2005 at 10:43:47 AM PDT

Last week, the Majority Report on Air America began a collaborative series with Daily Kos called the Fighting Dems -- featuring the growing ranks of Iraq War vets running as Democrats in several House races and the Ohio Senate race. Last week we featured David Ashe in the Virginia 2nd. Tonight, we'll feature Bryan Lentz, running for Congress in the Pennsylvania 7th congressional district.

The segment begins at roughly 9:20 ET, though your local times may vary.

This is the type of district we must retake to have a hope of winning back the House.

Pennsylvania's Seventh Congressional District covers the suburbs just outside Philadelphia in Delaware County and parts of Montgomery and Chester counties.

The district -- like most of the Philadelphia suburbs -- has undergone significant demographic change over the past ten years as tech and pharmaceutical industries have moved to the area.

Once safely Republican, the Seventh District now trends Democratic. Bill Clinton won the Seventh District twice. Al Gore won it in 2000; John Kerry carried the district with 53% in the last presidential election; and Governor Ed Rendell earned 64.3% of its votes in the 2002 state election cycle.

Upcoming:

Paul Hackett on October 25, U.S. Senate, Ohio
Patrick Murphy on November 1, Congress, PA-08

Race tracker wiki: PA-07
