reports that one Iraqi prisoner was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire. Another had wires attached across his shoulder and electrical currents were passed through him. Afghani prisoners had their nails pulled out.
This makes Watergate look like an innocent fraternity prank (and I believe Nixon dodged what he deserved, namely a prolonged stay in prison.)
My father, at the end of WW2, was the medical officer of a PoW camp full of Germans, in scenic Georgia. The contrast between what we read here, and the issues he worried about to protect the health of his prisoners, is totally staggering.
Something is seriously broken in the construction of the 'all-volunteer' military, and it badly needs to be fixed.
