So my question today for all "reform democrats" is what the fuck does Nancy Pelosi stand for? Anything? Or is she just yet another cardboard democrat, hell bent on defending her fiefdom?
Here's the latest off the wire, via the LA Times:
"Democratic Leadership Rethinking Abortion"

And the money graph: Rep. Tim) Roemer is running with the encouragement of the party's two highest-ranking members of Congress, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and incoming Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada. (snip)
Are you fucking kidding me? RUN don't WALK to the phones and the computer (contact info. below the fold) and tell Pelosi to start acting like a democrat for Christ's sake!
Consider recommending because this is THE fight for the soul of our party, folks: the DNC Chairmanship. Are we democrats with a big tent progressive agenda, or are we Tom Delay-lite? That's the goddam question.
More below the fold.
Okay, Harry Reid, I understand. Here's a guy who's been on record his entire congressional career as an anti-choice democrat. At least he's consistent. But Pelosi?
Nancy fucking Pelosi represents the 8th Congressional District! Folks that's San Francisco ... one of the staunchest pro-choice enclaves in the entire fucking country. Does she still represent her constituents?
A quick google search and you find that Pelosi has amassed a near perfect voting record on issues regarding choice:
http://issues2002.org/CA/Nancy_Pelosi_Abortion.htm
She was rated 100 by NARAL, indicating a pro-choice voting record
A quick blurb on NARAL: "NARAL Pro-Choice America's mission is to protect and preserve the right to choose while promoting policies and programs that improve women's health and make abortion less necessary. NARAL Pro-Choice America works to educate Americans and officeholders about reproductive rights and health issues and elect pro-choice candidates at all levels of government. The NARAL ratings are based on the votes the organization considered most important; the numbers reflect the percentage of time the representative voted the organization's preferred position."
So Pelosi rates 100 with NARAL and now she wants to endorse Roemer? Am I living in Bizarro World here? I wonder what NARAL thinks of the good congresswoman's "tacit endorsement" of Roemer.
Pelosi's office says that she hasn't "officially" endorsed any candidate for the DNC Chair. I say we URGE her to come out with a strong statement NOT supporting Tim Roemer!
Look folks. We all recognize that this issue needs to be "reframed." We have to find better ways to articulate our position, but I think Howard Dean said it best in an interview with Tim Russert: "We can change our vocabulary, but I don't think we ought to change our principles."
No shit.
Here's Pelosi's contact info. Let's tell her that, until further notice, this is still the DEMOCRATIC PARTY:
