The capture of Saddam is a good example of why opposition to this administration can't be based on the details of what's happening in Iraq. Blast Bush over not catching Saddam, well there you go. Talk about the unrest, that could change. Even the WMD could turn up -- though not in quantities suggested by BushCo.
It's right to oppose the Bush administration's war in Iraq, but not because of these details. It's right because preemptive war is wrong.
The whole concept of preemptive war is immoral. It places us on the same ground as the men who planned Pearl Harbor. It puts us in league with those behind 9/11.
Preemptive war is the ultimate expression of selfishness and amoral self interest. By endorsing such a policy, you're stating that any threat to you -- no matter how slight or remote -- is more important than the lives and rights of others. That's wrong. That's immoral. That's a sin.
And that's not going to change, no matter how many old men they pull out of basements. Stay on the moral high ground, don't get tempted to roll in the mud with these people. They love mud.
