Or at least SUSA thinks so.
Wow. If the good folks at SUSA are correct, John Edwards may be catching fire to a point where he’ll at least co-headline the returns tomorrow night. Their
new OK tracking numbers – based on a one night (Sunday, 2/1) sample – show Johnny Sunshine vaulting into a statistical three-way tie with Kerry and Clark, one point ahead of Kerry and just two behind the General. Edwards is up 4 points from yesterday, while Clark is down 2 and Kerry up 1. These numbers don’t entirely jibe with other OK polling, but they do show a possibly serious Edwards uptick just hours before balloting begins.
And Team Breck’s good news doesn’t stop where the wind comes sweeping down the plain, either. SUSA’s
SC results show Edwards up
17 points in his must-win SC redoubt. Again, SUSA isn’t really consistent with other pollsters here, but it’s evidence of a trend in Edwards’ favor.
Slightly less positive for Edwards, but still better than a kick in the head, are SUSA’s MO numbers showing him at 20%. He’s still 24 points back of Kerry, but he may well get delegates – and that, combined with a SC win and a strong OK showing, should keep him in contention through VA/TN, which will be make or break.
