My semiregular update for the Kossacks!
Online Fundraising, Update of State Sentate resignation on my race, Schedule for rest of January.
Fundraising Outlandish Josh set me up with an efficient little gatekeeper page to collect campaign finance info before routing people to a PayPal donation page - seems to work smoothly when he and I test, but it could use a more rigorous workout. It would help me identify Kossian donations with that clever $.01 append.
Senate Resignation As I noted earlier, the local senator resigned to accept a Parole Board appointment. That has cascaded several items: 1, the 'safe dem' seat in the neighboring Rep district is now open, as the occupant has declared for the Senate seat (which will be filled this election, 2 years out of cycle). 2, the occupant of MY district is not one of the names that the county GOP gave to the County Commissioners to appoint immediately to the vacant Senate seat. This is a bit of a message to the current occupant, who is now reportedly mulling a run for the county DA job... bottom line, I still have no idea who I will actually face come November.
Schedule I had intended to wait on my announcement until we knew if the incumbant was going to be appointed to the Senate. I am still holding off on the official move to clear the decks in local news cycles for both for WHOever the appointment is and to allow the neighboring district new Dem to declare. Should mean sometime before Valentine's Day for MY step in. I am also planning to go to Portland next weekend for a Candidate School offered by the Oregon Women's Caucus. There will also be a dinner on the same weekend hosted by NARAL. Given the distance of the drive, one or the other may not have lured me north, but both may very well get me out of Jefferson.
Tomorrow will be indoor soccer and Iowa-watching :)
