I hate to quote the Moonie Times, but it was the only place I found
this wonderful quote from an upcoming book by John McCain, titled
Why Courage Matters: The Way to a Braver Life:
"Suck it up, for crying out loud. You're almost certainly going to be okay," he wrote. "And in the unlikely event you're not, do you really want to spend your last days cowering behind plastic sheets and duct tape?
"That's not a life worth living, is it?"
Is this not a direct broadside against Bush-Cheney's campaign of fear? What a wonderful thing for a leader to say. It reminds me of something Gen. Clark said on the campaign trail, that no matter what happens to this country, we will remain strong and we will survive, because we are America.
Instead of having us cower in fear of the unknown for political gain, our political leaders would do well to emulate McCain and Clark, and inspire us to overcome our fears and be a stronger nation for it.
Compared to McCain, Bush is that much more pathetic.
