"Coleen Rowley will work to change Congress for Minnesota, the United States and the World"
The "perfect storm" is brewing which may allow Democrats to take back Congress. Americans from all walks of life are growing tired of the ethically challenged and morally bankrupt 'leadership' of the Republicans in the White House, Congress and many state legislatures. By running the best the Democratic Party has to offer and hammering home the ethical and criminal violations committed by Republicans such as Tom Delay, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, Karl Rove, Coingate, etc. we're primed to end the Republican stranglehold on the political process.
On July 6th, Coleen Rowley - Retired FBI Special Agent and Time co-Person of the Year, announced her candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District. That seat is currently held by Republican John Kline. For those few who might not recognize her name, an excerpt from Coleen's
website should refresh your memory...
"In May of 2002, Coleen brought some of the pre 9/11 lapses in the investigation of Zacarias Moussaoui to light. The 9/11 Commission subsequently described Moussaoui as an "Al Qaeda mistake and missed opportunity," the investigation of whom may have led to the center of the Al Qaeda plot if it had been pursued in a timely and effective manner.
In June of 2002, Coleen testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee about some of the endemic problems faced by the FBI and the intelligence community.
In April 2003, following an unsuccessful attempt to warn the Director and other administration officials about the dangers of launching the invasion of Iraq, she "stepped down" from her legal position and returned to being an FBI Special Agent."
Coleen was also critical of the war in Iraq BEFORE the war. In March 2003, she wrote a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller expressing her concern that invading Iraq would "in all likelihood, bring an exponential increase in the terrorist threat to the U.S., both at home and abroad." Of course, she was ignored and it is now obvious that her analysis was right on target.
This is a fairly Republican district, however, in light of the questionable moral fiber of many Republican politicians, Coleen's focus on "ethical decision making", her dedicated service to our country and her name recognition resulting from her whistleblowing in the aftermath of September 11th she represents an excellent opportunity to take back a seat in the House. Let's help Coleen win in 2006 and Contribute to Coleen's Campaign. Early support is crucial to get the ball rolling as a staff must be assembled, campaign materials produced and many other tasks required that all require funding.
I must note that Coleen may face some opposition for the DFL party endorsement. Teresa Daley, who lost to Kline by a margin of approx. 57-40 in 2004, may also seek the party's endorsement.
Electing someone like Coleen Rowley to the U.S. House of Representatives will not only help to bring Democrats back into power but will also help to restore some semblance of decency and ethics back into the process. Let's hammer away at the ethics violations and crimes committed by the Republicans but let's not stop at just those who are guilty. Let's shine the spotlight those who marched lockstep in supporting these crooks and in doing so we'll help all Democratic candidates and bring "ethical decision making" back into the process.
