In the progressive handbook
50 Simple Things You Can Do To Fight The Right, one suggestion is the simple meet up. And in ten days, progressives will have the Mother of all Meet & Greets!
YearlyKos now has only a couple of hundred seats available. It is almost certain the event will begin showing up in large traditional media outlets this weekend and even more so next week.
A partial list of our speakers reads as follows: Howard Dean, Ambassador Joe Wilson, Senator Harry Reid, Retired General Wesley Clark, and many more stellar names. Also included are bloggers like our own Markos, Jane Hamsher, Matt Stoller, as well as authors like Chris Mooney and Larry Johnson. The event will be live cast at times by Air America's Majority report.
But as impressive as all that may sound, our most important attendee is you. Blogs are not about helping those who hold power already. Blogs are about empowering you, about giving you the access once reserved for the wealthy elite and the corporate lobbyists, about getting your voice heard. That's what this progressive netroots movement is all about: YOU. And that's who we'd really prefer in those remaining seats. You're not there for the speakers, they're there for you.
If and when large scale media interest develops, those seats will be gone, probably the same day it happens. Pfffft.
This isn't a shakedown job or hype for an event that is hurting for attendance. This is a plea to those who haven't made their minds up yet to decide. If you're hoping to attend, reserve a seat. Now.
