Oh, dear GOD, another Nader diary.
Well, for anyone here who isn't familiar with my position on the Nader issue, here's the distilled version:
Ralph Nader is a deluded dunderhead -- and so is anyone who votes for him this year.
Simplistic, yes. Accurate, yes.
But that's not the exact point of this diary.
So I read with interest
David Byron's Hypothetical Diary.
(David and I have been arguing -- mostly about my insistence that I've said all I have to say about the Nader issue and about my insistence that Nader and his voters this year are "deluded dunderheads.") But he did inspire this litle diary.
I am truly curious. If this year's election were down to Ralph Nader and John Kerry, who would you vote for? Eliminate Bush; keep the rest of the world issues as they stand.
Me, I'd vote for Kerry. Twice. Because, when you come down to it, the actions and rhetoric of Ralph Nader terrify me when I imagine him in charge. It's like imagining myself in charge. I'm an idealistic pacifist, radically to the left in my heart of hearts. Given the world situation as it stands, I'd be assured of either paralysis or total incompetence in my decision making.
See, I'm not qualified to be President. And, for all his experience in vital areas of interest, neither is Ralph Nader. In addition, he is off his fucking rocker. His utter refusal or inability to acknowledge the potentially deadly effect of his candidacy this year -- and the actually deadly effects of his candidacy in 2000 -- strikes me and many others as delusion. Perhaps delusion in the form of megalomania, but delusion nonetheless.
So. I've made my feelings known. What are yours?
