I understand the all-Alito-all-the-time vibe right now. But this is different.
The New York Times reported this morning that the coup in Haiti two years ago that deposed President Aristide was supported by the Bush Administration, through the International Republican Institute.
Folks, this is huge. We didn't pay attention when Harry Belafonte accused the U.S. of supporting the coup, but we goddamn well should right now. And declare, everywhere and always, that Bush is lying when he says he supports freedom and democracy, because he actively subverted both in Haiti. Of course, we didn't need the example of Haiti, but given the absolute misery that country and its people are now suffering, largely due to our constant interventions since the early 20th century, it is an especially brutal and cynical example of Bush Inc.'s deception.

You won't like the Clinton stuff, but facts are annoying sometimes. Maybe that's why Dems probably won't use it against Bush. Or maybe it's because it's only poor black people, and their lobby is not what you would call powerful.
Anytime this adminstration says anything about promoting democracy, they are lying. They are lying through their teeth, and we know it. What we do with that knowledge is up to us.
