In the last 2 days I have received a huge number of requests for money from very worthy groups. Simply put I can't donate right now, but perhaps I can spread the word. Below the break is a breakdown of the groups that have time-sensitive campaigns needing funds that are worthy of our consideration.
I. Groups who need funds to put out ads calling for DeLay's resignation:
Progressive Majority: For the first $20,000 contributed, the Campaign for America's Future will match every dollar 4-to-1 to expose DeLay's corruption for even more people. With this match, every $10 you contribute will put this ad in front of 160 households for a full week! Please contribute today.

Public Campaign Action Fund: A more targeted ad campaign targeting Republican districts where the Rep has shown signs of turning on DeLay-- Reps. Rob Simmons (CT), Tom Reynolds (NY), and Doc Hastings (WA)-- join our call for DeLay to resign. They also need money to expand their efforts:

II. Opposition to "Intelligent" Design:
Members of the Dover, Pa. school board, backed by the Religious Right, have injected religious doctrine into their public school science classes. They argue that "intelligent design," a form of creationism, isn't actually religious doctrine, and claim that they aren't interested in preaching to students -- merely in offering them an "alternative" to evolution.
We can't let creationism proponents get a foothold in our public schools. Your special gift today will support the ongoing work in a landmark lawsuit filed by Americans United against the teaching of "intelligent design" as well as our numerous other strategies to defend church-state separation across the country.
Stand with Americans United for Separation of Church and State as we protect the separation of church and state through our many legal, educational, grassroots and legislative efforts.

III. An ad campaign to protect the filibuster:
People For the American Way Foundation has launched a new phase of our emergency campaign to save the filibuster. We're mobilizing Americans to stop far-right leaders in their tracks. Preventing this disaster requires six principled Republican Senators.
Our ad is designed to secure the needed Republican votes against the "nuclear option." It features a clip from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, the movie classic in which the character played by Jimmy Stewart used the filibuster to stand up to corrupt forces in the Senate. The ad also features a Republican firefighter saying America works best when no one party has absolute power. Polls tell us that a huge majority of Americans agrees with this message.

IV: Barak Obama and MoveOn.org support Senator Robert Byrd:
Two and a half years ago, when Congress was voting on the use of force against Iraq, Senator Robert Byrd from West Virginia told his colleagues, "I truly must question the judgment of any President who can say that a massive unprovoked military attack on a nation which is over 50% children is `in the highest moral traditions of our country.' This war is not necessary at this time." For those of us who opposed the war, he became a hero. And he's remained one, on many issues. Just last week, Senator Byrd joined us at a MoveOn PAC rally to make a passionate appeal against the Republican plan to seize total control of judicial nominations in the Senate.
Now the Senator needs our help. Because of his courageous stands against the war and the Republican plan to stack the courts, Republicans in the Senate have made him a primary target--they're already raising money to defeat him in 2006. On March 31st, Senator Byrd will report his campaign expenses to the FEC. He needs to show the press and public that he's got strong support. Can you chip in now to support Senator Byrd?

V: Progressive Majority needs money to recruit progressive candidates across the country:
Immediately following Election Day, Progressive Majority began recruiting candidates in Washington, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania for the next elections. Now, we've expanded our recruitment operations into Colorado and Arizona. We're growing rapidly and I am asking for your immediate support so that we can continue to work full-time on recruiting and electing the best progressive leaders in the country.

VI: Our friend Barbara Boxer asking for funds for her PAC to start strong for 2006:
PAC for a Change is going to be on the frontlines of the '06 fight, from now through Election Day.; The right-wing Republicans have a record of failure that they can't hide from, and we're going to hold them accountable. 33 Senate seats are up in 2006 -- 18 of those are currently held by Democrats (including Independent Jim Jeffords of Vermont) and only 15 of those are held by Republicans.; Further, two good Democratic Senators, my friends Paul Sarbanes from Maryland and Mark Dayton from Minnesota, are retiring in 2006 -- leaving 2 open Democratic seats to defend, versus only one open seat for the Republicans.
So we've got our work cut out for us in having to defend more total Senate seats than the Republicans, and having to defend more open seats as well.
But, even if some of the numbers aren't in our favor, we have the issues squarely on our side. We won't let the Republicans avoid the consequences for all of the damage they've done:
* For their reckless economic policy that has rung up record deficits, slashed education and health care programs for our families, rewarded the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the poor, and cost our country hundreds of thousand of jobs
*For their irresponsible environmental policy that pollutes our air, dirties our water, and threatens our most pristine wilderness areas
*For their misguided foreign policy that has alienated our allies, cost us billions of dollars, and led to the injuries and deaths of thousands of our soldiers, as well as tens of thousands of innocent people around the world&-- while Osama bin Laden is still on the run

Let's do what we can, folks. I'm going to try to scrape up some cash for a couple of these, but I really hope our community as a whole can help all of them out.
