It pains me to write this but as I watch the Cubs get shelled by the White Sox (it's 8-1 Sox right now - Ooops - 12-1 now.) I get the feeling that parallels can be drawn between the Cubs and the Republicans and the Sox and the Dems.
It pains me because I'm a Cubs fan and a Democrat. But consider:
Cubs can fill seats, can't win games.
Republicans can get elected, can't govern.
Sox have best record in league but you can't pay people to come watch their games.
Democrats consistently right on the issues, can't get elected.
Every year the Cubs screw up - every year the public gives them a second chance. Ditto the Republicans.
Every year the Cubs fool the public into thinking they have a plan. Sound like Republicans and Iraq?
One big difference -
The Cubs are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tribune media conglomorate.
The Republicans, by contrast, own the media.
Can't anybody here play this game?
